If you are overly concerned about bears, ticks, and poison ivy, then you may never get out.   You will probably encounter them if you choose to hike the trails.   Poison ivy is in our area and the best way to deal with it is to avoid it, and to do this you have to recognize it.   Although we have seen it in many places in our area, provincial sources only list a few:

This map shows Rabbit Island, Paul Creek, and below Mt. Peter, but it can be found in small patches throughout our area.   There is a good patch across the road from the Louis Creek ferry, there are big patches on the upper (Packer) trail on the Adams River, and we have seen patches in the Chase Hills area.

I have had poison ivy infections twice and it isn’t much fun.   Avoid, it, but get out and hike the trails in spite of occasional patches out there!
