Although we prefer unmarked snowshoe trails, this route has some nice terrain to cross.

We can’t recommend Loop A much since the lake is too close to the area used for motorcycle racing in the winter, but we enjoy Loops B,C, and D.   Take the time to go off the trail north of C onto the big marsh on a sunny day.    It is possible to strike off Loop D to climb up McConnell Hill staying parallel to the Ambush Trail, but the Ski Club has not authorized this section so be sure to stay off the groomed ski trails.  See the post on McConnell Hill for more information on this option.

Loop D has some interesting terrain and some uphills to provide a workout.    Don’t do all your snowshoeing on marked trails, but these ones are worth trying once in the winter.
