For many years we had good access to the Deep Lake area by parking at the end of Ida Lane but two events changed our ability to get to the trailhead to hike in the grasslands and forests. In 1996, the Lac du Bois Grasslands Protected Area added the Deep Lake area to Parks lands and gates were installed to stop/reduce ATV access (a good thing).
Then, in about 2008 a new housing development was laid out and subsequently built at the top end of Ida Lane. At first access was fine but once the homes were built and sold, there was a decision by the Strata to restrict parking access. Signs were posted and vehicles were warned with notes on the windshields. The parking issue was never resolved, but there is a bit of legal parking near the mailboxes just below the new strata development. We have even parked at Westsyde Shopping Center and walked up Ida Lane.
