We were fortunate to meet-up with Jackie who wanted to go on a longish hike up Funeral Canyon to the slot canyons and back.   This turned out to be a 10+ mile hike in the hot washes and open canyons on a 84F day.   The slots were lots of fun and worth all the slogging up to the vertical rock and back.   This hike is not in the brochures or guide books, but can be found in specialized books on canyon exploration (which we picked up after the fact).
